Hello :)
My name is Roger, 23 years old residing in Malaysia. I
have been visually impaired (I mean simply by having glasses on) when I was 13.
I have done quite extensive reading on the Bates method when I was 18 but
kindda failed miserably as I misunderstood the concepts and expected
instantaneous results.
I have given up thereafter and continued down the path of worse vision with the need for stronger glasses. Then I tried contact lenses,
which were horrible. I do not mean to offend those who are contact lens
wearers but I have a pair lying around unused. Somehow the idea of revisiting
Bates method sprung up in my mind. I am surprised that the forum where I was once
active in (http://www.iblindness.org/community/index.php)
is still active. I have learned a lot from David’s blog (http://blog.iblindness.org/) and I
believe he has explained the concepts very well in contemporary terms. This is
important for me as reading Bates’ research materials was far too complicated
for me as a first timer back then.
I have not fully cured my vision, but every time I have done
something good with it by practicing the good vision habits, I believe I am
already on the path to recovery. Hence my journey cannot be left undocumented,
thus the reason for this blog.
Hope you keep up with my postings and I will continue to
post what I have learned each day, be it about vision improvement or my
experiences associated with it.
